Dear indrani987!
Christ is Risen!
I am not sure what kind of icons you've purchased, because I cannot see them. However, there are some tips for buying an orthodox icon. If you are looking for an "original _style_" in icons, you must look for two-dimensional picture (almost flat without any _expression_ on the faces of the depicted saints. Also, you want to look for an in_script_ion that would tell you who is depicted on the icon or what kind of feast day is depicted on the icon.
In addition to this, "original icons" would have nothing pictured on the background - just plain blue(ish) or gold(ish) background.
"Modern _style_" icons look more like a portrait. They are tri-dimensional and some scenes might be pictured on the background.
Both _style_s of icons are used in
Orthodox Church
.
Blessed icons can be purchased from the stores in
Orthodox Church
es or monasteries. If you are not sure whether your icons were blessed or not, just take them to your priest and ask him to bless them for you. During the Order of Blessing of Icons we are invoking the grace of the Holy Spirit upon them.
